Creative Digital Group On-Line Competitions for 2018-19
Themes and Submission Dates
There will be one on-line competition this year and members can submit up to two images in the competition. The author’s 6 best scores from the on-line competition, the Cunningham Cup and the Digital Challenge Cup will count towards trophies and promotion.
The On-line Competition will be a pictorial competition i.e. any subject of the Author’s choosing.
Rules for this year’s competitions: There are 2 leagues. Members must enter in the appropriate League L2/L1. This is to determine trophy winners only. All images will be scored by the same process. If you don’t know your League please ask. You must enter in L1 category if you have previously entered in L1 or been promoted there by the CD Group or through either (Print or DPI) of the Main Society competitions or have any form of distinction, including academic qualification that would have allowed a distinction award by exemption (e.g. LRPS,CPAGB,AFIAP or higher). The highest scoring new member (i.e. a member in their first two-years of membership), entering in L2, not winning or not having won another CD Group trophy will be awarded the Gwyer Shield. The outright winner of L2 will be awarded the Intermediate Cup and of L1 the Advanced Cup.
1. Competition will be run on-line concurrently with the Photo Safari. Images selected for the Photo Safari Group panels are also eligible to be entered in the on-line competitions. 2. Those entering will be asked to critique three images for each image entered. If you don’t provide critique your entry may be disqualified. 3. Those entering will be asked to vote for ten images and rank their top 5. If you don’t vote your entry may be disqualified. You are not allowed to vote for your own images. 4. A maximum of 2 images may be entered in the on-line competition.
Points and Trophies 5. Scores will be allocated based on the cumulative image ranking points determined by members voting and ranking (point 3 above). (Scores range 1×20 points for first place, 2×19 points for second and third place, 3×18 points for fourth to sixth place, 4×17 points for seventh to tenth, 5×16 points for eleventh to fifteenth and 6×15 points for sixteenth to twenty-first. All other voted for images will get 14 points and those not voted for 13 points. Peer scores will be given equal scores and the next highest place the appropriate score. (e.g. if three images tie for first place each will be given 20 points and the next ranked image will get 18 points.) 6. The best 6 scoring images from a member’s 4 on-line images, Cunningham Cup and Digital Challenge Cup will count towards promotion and league position. Threshold for promotion from L2 to L1 is 102 points (17 points average). 7. The highest score in each League 2 and League 1 will win that trophy for the year. In the event of a tie, the next best 7 scores then best 8 scores from the cup competitions will be used to determine the winner.

We took a different approach this year in an effort to reduce the numbers of competitions. We only allowed 2 images for each of the 2 on-line competitions together with the 3 images for the Cunningham Cup and the 2 images for the Digital Challenge this gave a maximum of 9 images per member. On-line Competition No 1 was a pictorial competition i.e. any subjct of the Author’s choosing. On-line Competition No 2 was based on any of the season’s Photo Safari themes. The best 6 scoring images were used to determine the trophy winners. This year’s Competition Scores here EPS CD Group League table 2016-17
