The EPS warmly welcomes all who share an interest in photography - from the complete beginner to the most skilled photographer.

We have a full annual programme of digital and film photography, with regular club competitions to challenge and improve your skills. We also have a wide variety of photographic lectures from some superb photographers from all over the country.

We have a wide variety of skills in the club, with separate groups for Digital , Creative, Nature, and Studio photography, several of which run beginners tutorial classes in addition to the main group activities.

Come along and meet us!

We are a friendly club and always like to see new faces. If you are interested in joining the EPS, come along at 7pm any Wednesday during the season (Sept- early April/May-see programme) and have a look around the premises before the meeting starts at 7.30pm. If you only find us late in the season, the membership fee (only) is half price from the 1st of January.

You can also attend one or two Group meetings prior to joining to see where your interests lie.

There's usually a bunch of us go along for a pint and a chat at one of the excellent nearby pubs after the Wednesday meetings- come along and join us!

Location:

We are based at  68 Great King Street, Edinburgh, EH3 6QU (Off Dundas and Frederick Streets in the New Town).

REGISTRATION on THIS SITE- IMPORTANT!

As this is an Edinburgh Photographic Society site, we regret that we can only allow current EPS members to upload image galleries. Registering on the site does not make you an EPS member! If you upload images you may be asked for your membership number to verify your membership before your images are approved.

We also require that all members use a login name that is identifiable in some form of Firstname and Secondname e.g. JoeBloggs, so we can see whose images they are.

Website registrations that do not use this format and do not obviously have a photography connection are liable to deletion to prevent the practice of automated website registration by dodgy websites who want to improve their ratings on search engines. Sadly this is a regular occurrence.

If the box above is blank, right-click within it and select 'Refresh' to load the calendar

For some reason users of  Safari (Mac) pre-version 2, will see the times shifted 3 hours. Most meetings start at 19.30 not 22.30.

spacer.gif   General announcements: Renovation Works - Potential Disruption

We are about to undertake some major renovation work in the kitchen and toilet areas at EPS.  The work is currently planned to start on 15th February and it is hoped that it will be completed within five weeks.

There will be some disruption during this period but all society meetings will be able to proceed as normal and members will continue to have access to the studio, digital suite, library and B&W darkroom at all times.  The disruption will take the form of restricted use of kitchen/toilet facilities (though there will always be one toilet in operation) and a certain amount of noise associated with the building work during weekdays.  It is also possible that there will be no service of teas & coffees on Wednesday 17th and (perhaps) Wednesday 24th February.

The contractors will endeavour to minimise the impact on other areas but there will, inevitably, be a need to stack items in spaces close to the works and members may have to negotiate these areas with some care.  Although many areas will be covered with protective sheeting, there will be a certain amount of dust on surfaces and floors - so you may need to avoid placing coats, etc. in affected areas.

The Council has decided to take this opportunity to create a larger gents toilet in the space currently occupied by the colour darkroom.  As a result, the colour darkroom facility will be moved to the room off the B&W darkroom and an alternative provision made for the large format enlarger currently located in that room.  (Details and timing of this relocation have still to be determined.)

The renovation work will result in a major improvement to both the appearance and functionality of the premises.  It will make it easier for us to host larger meetings and to accommodate external caterers when required.  It will also make the premises more attractive for members to use.

Please be patient while this work is being undertaken.  If you do have any major problems during this period, please contact Tony Bellhouse, George Neilson or Ron Panton and we will try to help resolve them.

Hopefully, we will be in a position to welcome our guests to a much improved facility for our Members Exhibition at the end of March and to the International Exhibition this summer.

To all members: Sorry for repeating myself, but If you want to get any emails from the EPS, including announcements from the main Society or the subgroups, and information that we are forwarding about events that may be of interest, you MUST be signed up to our mailing list(s). There are still quite a few new and not so new members who are missing out!

Just click on the 'Mailing lists' link on the main menu and fill out the form, and remember to confirm your subscription from the link on the email that will be sent to the email address you used. If you do not get this, please check any spam folders you may have and mark emails from the society as safe- like all mailing lists, messages from ours can be falsely identified as spam.

You are free to subscribe or unsubscribe  to any of the lists at any time, just click on the link to your preferences on the bottom of any of the list emails you receive.

There is now a new Studio list for all users of the studio, so existing list users can change their preferences to include this list if they wish.
